Match Reports 2011/12 Season
Sunday 9th October
Hastings & Bexhill Festival - Away
With a squad of 14 players it was time for the Hastings festival. The first game was against Haywards Heath A's which we lost 3-1, but a huge improvement from the week before 6-0. The team's defence was excellent with numerous large tackles being put in.
We then played Heathfield which we drew 1-1, again a very good game to watch which should have gone our way.
Then on to play Lewes which we won 3-1, a great game with tons of team spirit, passing tackling and running in some great tries.
The last game of the pool was Hove, who used one player to do the running. We quickly took him out and continued to defend really well. The score 3-1 did not really reflect the game but meant we did not go through to the final.
Well done to all the players for putting on an excellent show of rugby, for the parents to enjoy. There are a couple of weeks now to polish a few areas before the Crowborough A Festival.
Sunday 2nd October
Crawley Festival - Away
After a few weeks of intense training a keen Under 9 team went to Crawley. This year it was all about tackling, line outs, scrums and rucks!
The aim was a dress rehearsal for the following week at Hastings. The team played their pool games and went through to the Tin cup, which they won, 3-1.
The whole team played really well stepping up to the plate after 3 years of tag. Well done to all involved as this was a good start for the season and a great platform to build on.
Match Reports for 2010/11 Season
East Sussex Festival @ East Grinstead 13th March 2011.
Under 8’s
The two opening games saw the Under 8’s play some truly spectacular team rugby - tearing the oppositions defence apart with passing rugby to win both games by the maximum permitted 6 tries. A closer encounter against Lewes put Crowborough through to the semi finals with 3 straight victories to top the group. A semi final against Heathfield drove Crowborough to attack and defend with real passion and commitment with a victory putting them through to a repeat of last year’s final against Brighton. This 7 minute each way game was a true battle between by far the most skillful two teams in the tournament with the lead changing back and forth throughout the game. The skill level shown by the Crowborough Under 8’s was at times beyond belief. Unfortunately for Crowborough 3 disallowed tries (one with the final whistle) left Crowborough defeated by 6 tries to 5. Ten shattered Crowborough players should be stood with their heads held high as they played the best rugby with the most amazing commitment that the very proud coaches and parents have ever seen them play!
