First and foremost the under 7's is about having fun whilst at the same time developing the fundamental skills for Rugby. Rugby at this level is non-contact and encourages excellent coordination, team spirit and confidence (not to mention giving them a good run around!)
We develop the children's Rugby skills through a mixture of games, drills and matches. The team had a great season last year and gained an excellent foundation upon which we will build this year. This season the team will have joint training sessions with other clubs (both home and away) as well as playing some competitive matches and taking part in the festivals (see the fixtures list for more details). The Crowborough Mini section has an excellent record at festivals and it would be great to emmulate this success and based on the skills they showed last season we should do well!!
Rugby at this age group is TAG Rugby (with velcro tags being pulled off to "tackle" a player), so our focus will be on evasive and passing skills whilst developing the children's game sense.
Training is every Sunday from 10am to 12 noon starting from 4th September 2011 (see fixtures). Registration is on Sunday 4th September 2011.
Please remember if you haven't already brought in a passport photo, please bring one in for registration (you can't play in the festivals until you have!)
Crowborough is a very friendly club and with our brand spanking new clubhouse this season promises to be a very exciting one!!!
Newcomers are always welcome!! either come along one Sunday or contact me, James Glynn on 07946 584 614 or email james.glynn2@sky.com No previous experience is needed as the children will very pick up the basics!
