Away win for the Crows
A fine performance...
The Crows travelled to East Grinstead having lost the pre-season friendly at home, determined to put things right!
Referee was former Crow, Nick Radford - more on him later!!!
The first few minutes were all about putting pressure on from the kick off, keeping EG in their half. It wasn't long before a strong counter ruck from Welsh Wizard Jeremy Evans turned over possession with the backs managing to not drop the ball long enough to run in a try, giving the Crows an early lead.
A bit later EG scored a try, not really sure how that happened.
At another mighty counter ruck turnover Evans picked up a nasty knock to the leg and had to come off.
At half time Evans heroically returned to the fray to teach youngster Josh the fine art of 2nd Row play and generally inspire the pack to more heroic counter-rucking. Gav Richardson managed to pull his only unstrapped muscle - a hamstring (whatever that is!).
A brief pause in the proceedings for Crouchy to take a poo.
From a ruck the ball was passed to the safe hands of Evans who, with Terry on his shoulder, charged like a rampaging ram into the EG pack, one of whom in a blatantly high tackle missed by the ref (!) caused an explosion of blood from Evans' nose. The lock heroically ensured the ball was cleanly presented to his scrum half before once more departing the field of play.
The Crows clearly took inspiration from the injury to their talisman and ran in some more tries, including a textbook training field "Mustard" move.
At the end, there was much rejoicing in the 24-10 away victory.
Well played everyone!!
