Winter is coming!

Hopefully, we won't need coats like the Night's Watch to stay warm

Winter is starting to take hold and all of a sudden cold is another barrier in the way of u6s. We’ve found that there is no bigger enemy to a u6 players confidence than getting too cold.

Your player needs you! (And we need you too...)

We do our best to keep sessions active and to protect the players by cancelling if the weather is brutal. Yet, on those days when maybe the wind is blowing and the sun dips behind some clouds we want to be clear how you can help.

  1. Please stay pitch side. The coaching team cannot take parental responsibility - so there should be a parent or nominated adult present all the time. We need you to be aware of your player. If they are struggling with the cold (they tend to stop running about) we need you to step in and warm them up. The coaching team can’t do that, whilst also keeping the other players on the pitch going.
  2. Layers layers layers. More is more. They’ll complain and moan but without them they’ll get cold and that’s usually a one way street. We need you pitch side to help them when they want to take off / put on a layer with associated bib / tag belt faff.
  3. Gloves.
  4. Every win is a win. Whilst it might be frustrating - even 15 mins of engagement is still 15mins! Better 15 quality mins and coming back next week than 45 mins of tears and then resistance to continue in the future.
