Crowborough Rugby Football Club

Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the 2010/2011 Season

To all Players, Seniors, Juniors, Minis, Members & Supporters

I hope that you are really looking forward to the coming season, it promises to be very exciting for all of us. On the Playing side we once again start in excellent shape the 1st team squad has trained throughout the summer and their coach, Nick Oldham has worked hard at raising skills levels all round.

We are aiming for a top 2 finish in the London SE 3 league to beat our best ever 5th. place we achieved last season. The 2’s won promotion and now face a tough challenge in their new league as with the 3’s both squads have strengthened and there will be keen competition for places between all 3 senior teams. The Colts, Juniors and Minis are well organised at every age group and continue to represent the club with great distinction all over the south east, we have almost 300 players from U6’s to U18’s….

In the closed season we have done much work around the ground, put drainage into the ‘B’ pitch, seeded and fertilised the ‘A’ pitch, erected new goal posts on the ‘D’ pitch, painted the railings, cleared the drainage ditches and the whole area of dead wood, leaves etc.

We have a new Club Sponsor, which is Beacon Security and we have attracted many other sponsors and advertisers, all who are listed on our web-site www.crowboroughrugby.co.uk and in the Club Handbook.

But the main activity has been working on the funding for the new ClubHouse. The RFU have informed us that they have accepted our plans for the building of a new clubhouse and that we are eligible for both a loan and a grant. These funds allow us to meet the requirements of other lenders and, along with money that has been raised by careful management of the clubs finances and the generosity of sponsors we are on the brink of being able to realise our dreams of starting work on building the new clubhouse.

The RFU funds are however conditional on our raising in excess of £50,000 from club members and other donors. It is for this reason that we are now approaching all of our players, members and our supporters to help us complete the financing The opportunity to replace our decrepit clubhouse now exists but we have to raise the balance of the funding before we can begin, and we only have a matter of months to do this. Please, if you can help, it's now or never. There are several ways you can contribute, they are listed below do not hesitate to come and talk to one of us
