A Message from the Executive Committee
We're writing to you today with some exciting news about the club — plus an important update on membership subscriptions for the season ahead.
GREAT NEWS
We're thrilled to announce some brilliant additions to what your membership gives you:
Parents and guardians of U18 players — you're now Social Members, automatically. Every parent/guardian of a U18 playing member, based on what's recorded in Pitchero (up to 2 per family), will be signed up as a Social Member. There's nothing you need to do — it's automatic and it's our way of saying thank you for everything you do to get your kids to training, cheer from the touchline, and keep this club running. We'd love to see you make the most of it — pop into the clubhouse, join us on a matchday, and get involved in the community that makes Crowborough what it is.
Summer Touch is now included. Summer touch training is now part of your subscription. No extra cost, just more rugby.
A reminder for our Minis and Juniors families — your subscription already includes:
- Coaching development for every age group
- Access to our excellent facilities and equipment
- Match meals for league home games
- Entry into festivals throughout the season
- Some provision for training at alternative venues when the weather turns
Membership rewards programme
Coming later this year — a new members' rewards programme. We're rolling out a membership scheme, planned to launch in the latter part of this year, that will include discounted food and drink at the clubhouse* and exclusive partner discounts, available only to paid-up members. This means being a member won't just support the club — it'll pay you back at the bar and beyond, at preferential rates non-members won't get access to. More details, including launch date, will follow soon.
*Subject to T&Cs, rolling out as partners are onboarded — more details to follow.
It's a genuinely exciting time to be part of Crowborough RFC, and we wanted you to hear about all of this alongside the subscription update below.
WHY WE NEED TO ADJUST SUBSCRIPTIONS
Like many clubs, we continue to see costs rise year on year — utilities in particular. In the last financial year alone, our gas, electricity, and water bills rose to over £22,000 and is expected to rise by a further 10%-12% as new contracts kick in. Maintenance costs more broadly, including refuse, sewage, and insurance, have also continued to climb. These are essential costs that keep our clubhouse running and our facilities in good shape for everyone who uses them.
WHY YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS STILL AMAZING VALUE
We've worked hard to keep subscription increases as modest as possible. It's always worth looking at what your subscription means week to week rather than just the annual total. A Single Youth/Student Player membership is £182 a year — around £3.50 a week. A Senior Player membership is £315 a year — around £6 a week. That's a full year of training, matches, coaching, kit access, festivals, match meals, summer touch, and everything else above.
As a reminder, Social Membership (Basic no voting rights) is now included at no extra cost for parents/guardians of U18 players registered as dependents on Pitchero (up to 2 per family, based on what's recorded there) — this is the automatic sign-up mentioned above, nothing more to pay. For everyone else, Social Membership (no voting rights) is available for just £25 per person a year — reduced from £50 to encourage more people to join, and outstanding value to be part of the club, use the clubhouse, and enjoy everything a Crowborough matchday has to offer. Please note this tier does not include voting rights or access to international ticket allocation, which remain exclusive to Full Social Membership. We'd love to see every parent and guardian make the most of it.
Every single penny of your subscription goes directly back into the club. It helps us maintain our pitches, keep the changing rooms and bar in top condition, and ensure we have the resources to keep developing rugby for all ages and abilities.
As a reminder, all players and members are required to pay subscriptions. Crowborough RFC is a community club run by volunteers, and your membership is the lifeblood that keeps us going. We appreciate your understanding and continued support in helping our club not just survive but thrive.
