It was Crowborough’s Summer Fair on Saturday. The Minis & Juniors were always going to be in attendance with a stall. Walking Rugby were there to help. The plan was to heighten awareness of our great club and encourage new membership.
Things took an interesting turn during the week when the extreme heat forced the cancelation of the always popular local dog show. A huge gap appeared in the itinerary. Up stepped CRFC to fill the void. Instead of just having a stand Walking Rugby was now live in the main arena. Ben Pollard gave a running commentary of how the game was being played plus insights into the skills involved in making the game fun for all. It was highlighted how it was a game for young and old alike, and with participation from total novices it proved the game was easy to pick up, easy to play, and definitely good fun.
Once the Walking Rugby had concluded it was time for the Minis & Juniors to take centre stage. A mini rugby session with ball skills, boys & girls having great fun, again all compared by Ben Pollard.
What a fantastic advert for a great club. Crowborough RFC does it again.
Huge thanks to Kate Smith for her unstinting leadership of the Minis, to Ben for his continued commitment to CRFC and Mike Berry for his devotion to the Walking Rugby cause, PLUS of course everyone else who contributed.
