CRFC Women and Girls feature in national media campaign

Bupa Cromwell Hospital films campaign at Steel Cross

Late last November, Crowborough Rugby Football Club was proud to host the filming of a major national marketing campaign for Bupa’s flagship London hospital, Cromwell Hospital, focused on women’s health in sport.

The club was specifically selected as the filming location for the campaign, which highlights the growing importance of recognising and supporting women’s injuries and long-term health in sport.

Despite extremely cold and windy conditions at Steel Cross, a professional film crew spent the evening capturing the incredible atmosphere, energy and community around the club’s thriving girls’ and women’s rugby section at Crowborough RFC.

The session featured fantastic attendance from both the club’s junior girls and women’s teams, with training led by Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Rosie Galligan, creating a memorable evening for everyone involved.

Parts of the campaign recently ran during coverage of the Women’s Six Nations, helping bring national visibility to the important conversation around women’s health in sport.

The campaign follows recent research showing that nearly half of respondents feel women’s injuries are not taken as seriously as men’s in sport — something the campaign aims to help change as participation and visibility in women’s sport continues to grow rapidly across the UK.

For Crowborough RFC, being chosen to host the filming was a significant moment for the club and reflects the continued growth and reputation of its girls’ and women’s rugby programme.

The campaign also provided outstanding publicity and brand exposure for the club, as well as valuable visibility for Servomex, lead sponsor of girls’ and women’s rugby at Crowborough RFC, whose support continues to play an important role in the development of the female game at Steel Cross.

A massive thank you goes to Cromwell Hospital for giving the club the opportunity to be involved in such an important national campaign, and to Rosie Galligan for coming down to Steel Cross, leading the session and sharing her own personal experiences from elite-level rugby with players across the girls’ and women’s section.

Crowborough RFC would also like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success, showcasing not only the strength of the girls’ and women’s section but also the welcoming, ambitious and community-driven culture that continues to grow across the club.

As women’s rugby continues to thrive nationally, Crowborough RFC is proud to be part of the movement helping inspire the next generation of female players both on and off the pitch.
