Tuesday evening 9th June saw CRFC wlking rugby head to a very welcoming Cranbrook Rugby Club to complete a return friendly fixture against their ever improving Walking Rugby team. Crowborough took a squad of 10 players mixing experienced WR veterans and newcomers. Two new debutants were Simon Everest and Jon Good who both added skills and youthful vigour to the squad.

The first game saw a 4-1 win for Crowborough. Star turn on the wing , Jules Crooks bagged a hatrick of tries , fed by her inside man ( Ian Crooks ). Attractive passing rugby and movement into space from Crowborough was in evidence all night and if we hadn`t dropped so many passes ( albeit some passes were very optimistic ) we could have scored more tries. After the head to head game we split into 3 teams and played round robin games. Thanks to David Barton for making up the numbers in a second Cranbrook 7. Cranbrook blues with David edged the round robin but Crowborough won their other game and acquitted themselves well.

The fines committee will sit after the Crowborough skipper was called on to apologise to the referee. A Crowborough trainee referee made an ill-advised attempt to explain the rules to the match referee and was marched back 3 metres and penalised ! All ended in good spirit and nothing took the gloss off a great evening.

Well done to Tracey and Rachel at Cranbrook for organising the evening and ensuring we got well fed after. A return fixture is in the planning for the end of summer.
