It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of David “Dutch” Holland. Dutch passed away on Thursday after a short but strenuous battle with cancer. His family were at his bedside. Without question the world and Crowborough RFC have lost a gold plated character. Dutch was a proud family man, a business man, an erstwhile TV star, a long standing member of CRFC and a member of the Friday Club.
He was one of the very first to play mini rugby at the club in the 70’s and amusing anecdotes have followed him ever since. Dutch was a clubman through and through and supported all sections of the club. In addition to supporting the senior squads he would volunteer every year to man the BBQ at mini festivals and also regularly turned up on Sundays to support the youth teams who would be playing (just as 3 weeks ago he was even on the touchline supporting the Colts).
The Friday Club paid their respects on Friday, the 2nd XV did likewise before their game on Saturday and the club at large will do so on Dec 10th when the first team are at home v Cranbrook. Dutch, you will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jackie and the kids plus your wider family and friends. Rest in peace and thanks for the memories, you are gone but will never be forgotten.
