The game continues to flourish

Sunday 19th October Crowborough Walking Rugby were back at a tournament the first since travelling to Seaford in May.

Tournaments this year have taken a back seat with the introduction of the Walking Rugby league in East Sussex. At the start of the league Crowborough did not have enough players to guarantee regular participation and consequently did not join the fun.

Since May, new members have joined and Thursday night at CRFC regularly sees in excess of twenty players, with the game now in a healthy state at Steel Cross.

And so, on Sunday a merry band of 12 travelled to Barns Green for a tournament.

Barns Green is the other side of East Sussex and for those players who remember some questionable, not to say incorrect navigation in the past adding many miles to journeys, there may have been some trepidation. Sunday, no such worries as all was perfect.
It was not an ideal day and as the games were played in constant drizzle or rain all afternoon.
Barnes Green had promised a curry after the event and this did not disappoint, it was excellent.

Five games were played, plenty of points scored, defended well, drew with Barns Green, even the in-game showers didn’t detract from the fun.

Fun was had by all, including a random hunt for missing spectacles, and Crowborough cleaning up in the raffle!
