Sadly, No report again this week.
However, I would like to share a few things about the match as it was certainly was a game of two halves......
Following on from last weeks difficult visit to Deal and Betteshanger RFC, a number of injuries, an Illness and the odd Red Card thrown at the selectors again this week. Made it difficult for the Coaching Staff to pick this weeks team.
The side was reshuffled with : Seb Lewis, Zeb Kisbee, Shaun Streeter, and Rob Horsfall-Turner all coming in to cover.
Following a very heavy night of rain and a strong westerly wind , which was reaching 40 to 50 miles an hour on the odd occasion. The main pitch was used at Old Alleynians , but it was very heavy conditions, only made playable by the efforts of ground staff who clearly had work hard to get this game on.
With OA's kicking down hill and with the strong wind behind them , the first half was always going to be difficult. And after sustained pressure by the home side, Boro' were behind by 7 point within the first 8 minutes. And with a blink of an eye Boro' were 37 down and it was half time.
The first half was tough going, As we missed our tackles at the important times, and we had chances that we didn't take .
At Half time it was time to regroup, after all we were playing OA's and they are not `Top of the Table` for no good reason........
Borough did regroup and they started to get some forward momentum. Now with the wind behind them, Boro' started to ask questions of the home side. And minute by minute the pressure increased ! And by the 72nd minute with Boro' spending most of the time between the home sides, 10 metre line and the 5 metre lines. And Eventually the pressure gave way, to a forwards try, by Alex Purnell, the extras added by James Hart. With the second half drawing to a close there was still time for OA's to score another try. Sadly the referee gave this, But the second to last off-load was a forward pass, that the referee couldn't see, and therefore the try was given. Thankfully the Number 10 screwed the ball wide of the upright, which meant when the final whistler blew `Borough` had won the second half 7 - 5.
However the final, final Score was OA's 42 - Boro 7.
But , this was a great `TEAM` second half performance, and some thing we can build-on over the next few weeks.
