Gone were the winds and rain of the previous week, as the warm sun shone down on a picture perfect Steel Cross , warming the large crowd which was bolstered by several of the clubs sponsors , all of whom were to be treated to a festival of running rugby.
‘Boro had trained well during the week, and came out of the blocks determined not to let the visitors settle.
In a 25 minute period ‘Boro purred like a well-oiled machine , as the pack secured quick ball, which was then mesmerizingly spun through the hands of the back division, whose oblique running lines and support play was simply unstoppable.
Tries from Connor Hand, Will Creasey, Rob Lester and Will Pitman, all converted by Jonte Fraser saw the home side gain the try bonus point, and cruise into what was to be and unassailable lead.28-0
As park re-grouped after the ‘Boro onslaught, they used their large well drilled pack to force over a try just short of half time to bring some semblance of pride back into the score. 28-7 HT
During the break, it appeared that the park coaching staff wanted the game played up front where they had shown they had the advantage at the set piece, and in doing so to nullify the strength of the ‘Boro backs.
Although this strategy initially worked, ‘Boro’s work in the loose continued to provide good quick ball for the backs, and with the back three entering the line almost at will, the visiting defence opened up once more to provided Jonte Fraser converted tries for Sam Edwards lurking out wide on the wing; Dave Bennett driving through the middle off a short Jonte Fraser inside pass; and a second for Will Creasey converted by Connor Hand.
In spite of this unceasing barrage, Park continued to batter the ‘Boro defence, and crossed the line twice more before the referee brought the contest to an end with the score 49-17.
This result leaves Boro still in fourth place on 55 pts ahead of next week’s opponents Bromley in Fifth on 51 pts.
