With derby day on us Uckfield 2s travelled to Steel Cross for an afternoon of liquid rugby. Due to players injuries and other commitments the 2s unfortunately had to cancel their fixture deeming the Crows fixture a loss before it had begun. The 3s also had a few players out at Twickenham but luckily they were the not so good ones and it wasn't really noticed.
The Crows also got their zoo lander on and had some individual photos taken. The good looking second row players had clearly done this before and definitely were not camera shy. It is still unknown if these photos were for the camera mans fetish or the pitchero site.
The first few minutes started well for Crowborough with new signing Gary running in a try and this was not going to be last, if he wasn't scoring try's or making great carries, he was trying to fight the other team! I hope he's available next week.
Luke wratten also had a brilliant game scoring great tries and making great tackles.
Other significant moments included George Devereese getting hit in the plums, Mike Whitehead breaking his thumb and a superb John Elms chip and chase which he took so brilliantly and unexpectedly the crows watched it awe, didn't provide any support and probably lost the ball.
At half time the score was pretty level until until the first few minutes of the second half where Uckfield scored a couple of tries. Jesus Jerry got a great reception when he came on from the surprising large crowd(some who were wearing ties!) the players and the ref.
Uckfield however kept their great form and the game finished 55-27
Some of the crows stayed to watch the England game this was complimented by match food curry and a few beers. This was great apart from England not winning the six nations and the mushrooms in the curry, both as equally disappointing.
In conclusion even though the game was effectively a friendly the boys gave it a great go and got a surprising 27 points on the second to top Uckfield side who still have 2 games in hand and could potentially win the league.
