Crowborough v Jersey Match Report

First, a huge thank you to Crowborough RFC, and also the Friday Club, for enabling the game to go ahead. Their tireless efforts behind the scenes meant we were able to host Jersey despite torrential rain earlier in the week.

Jersey arrived on time and the game kicked off as scheduled. Dan opened the scoring for Crowborough with a great run up the left wing and from then on Crowborough were unstoppable. Ten players in all scored tries but more importantly they all played as a team - there was some wonderful rugby on display and it was a pleasure to watch.

Jersey scored a try in the second half but the game was never really in doubt, with Crowborough scoring 14 tries against Jersey’s one, the final score being 70-5 (although it will be recorded as 55-5, as the Sussex Rugby Youth Competition Regulations 2017-18 state that no score greater than a 50 point differential will be recorded in the Competition Tables).

Jersey played some good rugby but on the day Crowborough were the better team. As one parent said, Crowborough made it look easy as opposed to it being easy.

Crowborough go on to their next league match next week against Pulborough with a spring in their step and everything to play for.
