Excellent pressure from the kick off with some solid recycling, a good scrum and some good handling resulted in a try for Josh Radford on the 4 minute mark. Incidentally, by starting in the 2nd row Josh has now played in every position except scrum half in this team now, since the age of 5!

The conversion from Ollie Jones was good so we took an early 7 point lead.

The next 20 minutes were extremely close with both sides pushing to make a break, defence being strong and the play taking place between the two 22's. The deadlock was broken eventually when Edenbridge equalised, with the conversion to tie the scores 7-7.

Shortly after, the first of two yellow cards for Edenbridge was brandished when their 9 picked up ours, David, and dumped him face first into the dirt! A yellow card was brandished, 10 minutes on the naughty step. David took some time out to get his breath back but came back on later and finished the game.

While down to 14 men the home team took advantage and new winger Fin Croll showed some serious pace to tear down the left wing and score our second try, again converted by Ollie to take the score to 14-7.

However the lead didn't last long when a Crowborough attack that looked promising with an overlap begging to be used ended up being taken into contact and spilled. a few phases later Edenbridge had their 2nd try, with a fantastic touch-line conversion to tie the scores at the interval 14-14.

The second half started with both sides keen to score first. Unfortunately another yellow card was produced against Edenbridge for persistently not retreating 10m after a penalty. WIth the man advantage Crowborough once again made the gap in defence work for them as inside centre Jonte Fraser sprinted clear to score under the posts for Ollie to convert and re-take the lead 21-14.

With 20 minutes still to go Edenbridge threw everything at us, with our line out now wobbling, quality ball was in short supply for David and Ollie at 9 and 10, making it difficult to clear and play the game down in the Edenbridge half. Edenbridge went through phase after phase battering away within 5 metres of our try line but the defensive effort was superb as attack after attack was repelled, discipline held and the victory secured.

This was a hard-fought match and both teams deserved the plaudits for playing largely cleanly and fair, with some good rugby played.
